After a quick break from releasing his music, Alexander 23 entered the new year with “How Much Longer?” released on Jan 26. The singer works in songwriting and production as well and worked vigilantly during this period. His attributions are found amongst many great pop musicians today.
Alexander’s first track of the year follows a natural and authentic vulnerability that shines through in all of his music. He continuously wears his heart on his sleeve, and delivers tales of various love stories through sincere vocals. His latest release, “On My Mind,” is no different.
The story behind “On My Mind” begins on Valentine’s Day of 2023. The singer, songwriter and producer worked on his latest release with the expectation of having his own valentine that year. Sadly, the date did not work out as intended. After finishing the song this year, Alexander makes sure all of his fans will have a reliable plan for this Valentine’s Day through his newest release.
Alexander commonly experiments through unique production techniques, creating energetic synth-pop tracks when diverging from the sad-boy anthems that popularized his music across social media platforms.
The technical sound quality of “On My Mind” is almost video game-like, and the song itself has a repetitive and continuous quality like gameplay. Although Alexander’s expertise in production is definitely evident, the collaborative effort with guitarist Cory Wong enhances an element of funk throughout the track. Alexander has claimed Cory Wong as “a guitar wizard” in his release announcements, and with a fantastically energetic riff to end the track, it’s clear why.
The lover-boy lyrics make this track into the cheesy pop hit Valentine’s needs. Alexander clarifies that the simplest annoyances can’t matter when someone is always on your mind and you prefer it that way. It is almost cheeky how in love the track sounds.
“If you ever need time on your own / I’ll give you some space … Was that enough space?”
With a very brief instrumental between the claim and the question, it is clear how full his heart is for this lover. This is a love of desire and appreciation. Really, what more could you ask of your Valentine?
